Salkantay - Machupicchu Trek (5D/4N)
Nevado (snowcapped mountain) Salkantay 4300 meters (14100 feet) high, surrounded by the snowcapped Umantay and others. This trek lasts 5 days and 4 nights, where you can enjoy spectacular scenery and many exciting experiences.

Tour Itinerary:
DAY 1: Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa
We will leave Cusco city at 4:30 a.m. and pass through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo, approximately at 9.00am. we will arrive to Mollepata. Then we will stop for a light breakfast and then start our first walk along the support staff at 12 noon, we will stop for lunch in the field of industry Silcakancha and after three hours of walking we reach Soraypamapa where we will stay over and camp.
DAY 2 : Soraypampa - Colpapampa
At 7:00am after a good breakfast we will continue our walk (considered the most difficult of the trip), crossing the site known Salkantaypampa, about 12 am we will reach the left side of the nevado Umantayblanco the highest point in step at 4650 m (15256feet) Salkaytay Umantay from this point will look at the snow and glaciers of Salkantay and can appreciate the stunning snow avalanches occur in the place, after an hour is the lunch stop in Huayrac the community and then descend and continue our hike to the rim of the forest. After an hour and a half lunch we continue our trek to Colpapampa, we will be there at 5pm where we will place our second camp.
DAY 3 : Colpapampa - Lucmabamba
This day will be unforgettable for the wide variety of Flora and Fauna we'll see during this day, we will also appreciate the formation of thermal waters in a small valley, then reaches a place called Sahuayacocha in this place lunch and then take a shuttle to Santa Teresa and then follow the river Salkantay, looking at different varieties of orchids and waterfalls of great magnitude, in turn appreciates the variety of coffee grown, fruit trees, bananas, pomegranates and avocados, finally arrive at camping at the place called Lucmabamba about 5.pm.
DAY 4 : Lucmabamba - Aguas Calientes
The departure is scheduled for 7:30 in the morning, we hike approximately 2 hours and then turn to the ancient town of Santa Teresa which was destroyed by a flood in 1997, thus reaching the Oroya (basket of a rope bridge basket) approximately 10 am . Here we experience strong emotions across the barrage above, beyond and appreciate an underground river in the same place and you can see the Machupicchu Hydroelectric where produce electricity for the city of Cusco where we will take lunch and say goodbye to the support staff, here you can decide if you want to continue the trek to Aguas Calientes which logically would be the most ideal or take a train to Aguas Calientes. We will stay overnight at a hostel located in the same town.
DAY 5 : Aguas Calientes –Machupicchu - Cusco
After breakfast we start trekking to Machu Picchu archaeological site and then see the dawn of Machupicchu, we will have our two-hour guided tour by the same guide who accompanied us during the trek, and then you have free time, you can take pictures , go up to Huaynapicchu, or just walk aroud, the same day we will take the train from Aguas Calientes to Cusco arriving at 8:45 p.m. approx.

What is not included
- Breakfast on the first day, Lunch and dinner the last day, after visiting Machu Picchu, you have free time to enjoy the ruins and choose a place to have lunch in Machupicchu or Aguas Calientes (remember we will arrive Cusco at 8:45 approx.).
- Entrance to Salkantay.
- Entrance to the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes, you can relax while waiting for the train back to Cusco, only 10 minutes walk from the village center, entrance fee is S /. 10.00.
We recommend that you bring
- A backpack with a change of clothes for the trek. Recommended: Polo shirts, shorts and some warm clothes.
- Rain jacket or poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco).
- Warm clothes, including jacket, fleece and sweaters.
- Flashlight and batteries (remember: batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions).
- Sunblock, hat or cap to protect against sun, rain or cold and repellent.
- Toilet paper.
- Snacks: energy bars, chocolates, candy etc.
- Water bottle and sterilizing tablets (Micropur).
- Original passport.
- Optional: walking sticks for the trek are covered with rubber.
Optional Service
- Extra porter to carry your personal things, 01 porter can carry up 18 kilos (39 pounds), 2 porters can be hired.
- Extra horse to carry your personal items 1 to 4th day.
One night in Aguas Calientes can be booked at an additional cost depending on the hotel requested.
- If you wish to visit Machu Picchu again the following day, the cost is extra ticket.
- Vistadome Service train (first class) instead of (backpacker tourist train), the additional cost.
